As we advance on our journey to fully understanding what it means to take our rightful place and position as Sons of God, one of the things we started discussing was understanding the agenda of the serpent because we can no longer be ignorant of his devices.
If we will succeed to take our rightful position and maintain that position we must allow God to unveil the schemes and wiles that the serpent initially used to beguile Eve in the garden that we may no longer be gullible and fall for such schemes.
In our discussion, we started in Genesis 3
Genesis 3 King James Version
3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
The Bible begins to tell us here that the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field that God had created. Previously we had mentioned that when God created everything He saw that it was good and he finally rested so something must have happened to make the serpent subtle.
We must ask ourselves why was it only the serpent that became subtle? Today the name serpent has become synonymous to anything that is bad and negative and evil. The same way the name Lucifer has taken on a very negative connotation. The truth about it is that it was no so from the beginning. I strongly believe that the animal called the serpent had an encounter with Lucifer. We must understand that this was not the first encounter Lucifer had with creations out of heaven. Isaiah 14 tells the story of how Lucifer was cast down to the earth during a pre Adamic era and race of beings. Isaiah 24 chronicles this story for us.
So Lucifer by reason of interacting with several kinds of beings over extended periods of developed mastery over manipulation of the senses of beings. If he was able to lead mutiny in heaven how much more on the earth.
So we come to understand that Lucifer started by deceiving the serpent to covenant with him for his purposes because he could not come into the garden as he was. He needed the body of a legal licensed earth dweller.
Now we see that he comes into the garden, deceives the serpent, and possesses its body, and begins to target Eve. Bible says he came to the woman and said hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Before such a thing would even be possible you must understand that Lucifer through the serpent had started building a relationship with Eve. He would come around and begin to engage her in discussions that did not have to do with the fulfillment of their assignment. God had told them to be fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it, have dominion over the fish of the sea, fowl of the air, and every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Eve was supposed to be discerning and once she noticed that there was something different about the serpent she would exercise dominion and subdue that thing. But because she had allowed herself to engage and build a relationship with something that she was supposed to rule over, she opened the door for her authority to be usurped.
This is one of the agendas of the serpent to find entities, people, object things etc that are familiar to us or within our environment and to seduce them knowingly or unknowingly to use them as a channel to get to us. He found the serpent in the garden, in Adam and Eve’s domain, in their household, in their home, and began to engage the serpent to use it as a channel against man. Let's move unto Gen 4:6
Genesis 4:6-7 New International Version
6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is *crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.*”
Here we see again another example of this agenda of the serpent, the same way Lucifer knocking on the door of Cain just as he did with the serpent. God told Cain, sin is lying at your door, it desires to have you but you must rule over it. Any power that is desiring to have anyone in your family, your home, your children, spouse In Jesus’ Name you will conquer it! God gave Cain a warning but Cain did not pay attention. Cain finally gave in to the hiss of the serpent and moved with spite and venom, he killed his brother Abel that is why we are told in ...
1 John 3:12 King James Version
12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
That we should not to be as Cain who was of the wicked one, meaning that he yielded his members and body to be used by the devil and finally killed his own brother. Imagine a world that was created by God that was supposed to be good. Everything was supposed to be pure and Holy but once the enemy entered he started bringing all kinds of evil and wickedness. The world had started to disintegrate because of the introduction of sin. The first children, sons, offspring of the earth find themselves in this situation where the elder kills the younger. This should be an awakening for us to watch and pray. I believe Adam and Eve must have noticed certain traits that Cain had manifested. Cain knew good and well that he was supposed to offer animal sacrifices to God. But why did he choose to offer the fruit of the ground? Lucifer had already started working on his mind. That is why we must make sure we watch and pray over our family, our territories, surroundings environment, etc. So that no sin that lies at our door will be able to gain access into our territory. It did not end with Adam’s family. Throughout the bible, you will see how the enemy has been seeking entrance into families, into the familiar zone from where he can strike the sons of God that are arising.
Fast forward to the new testament, we see a similar event taking place in the life of Jesus. The enemy came looking and searching in Jesus’ family territory for a medium a channel that he could use to attack the purposes of God.
John 6:70 King James Version
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
Matthew 16:23 King James Version
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
In these two scriptures, you see clearly that the devil was looking for someone in Jesus’s entourage to use as a medium and channel to attack the purposes of God.
Even when he had gotten Judas he was not satisfied. Jesus said have I not chosen you twelve and one of you is a devil! The agenda of the serpent to infiltrate our environments and our territories.
It did not end with Judas, he even came after Peter. But Jesus arrested it when it was just a thought in the mind of Peter.
People of God what we are bringing across is that one of the main agendas of the serpent is to infiltrate your entourage, your family, your home, your territory your environment. He infiltrated the garden as the serpent, came back to Adam’s home in the form of Cain. Even with Jesus he came as Judas and tried to get Peter but we thank God that Jesus arrested the attempt on Peter’s life and decimated it immediately.
We should rest assured because we know we have the victory in the name of Jesus but we must also make sure that we get wisdom and understanding because God’s people perish for lack of understanding and we must not be ignorant of the devices or the agenda of the enemy.
As we press on this year in our journey towards sonship let us be more determined than ever before to arrest any attempt of the enemy to infiltrate our entourage or environment and permanently establish the rulership of the Lord Jesus Christ in our Territories
