*Deuteronomy 23:13-14 * New International Version

13 As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement. 14 For the Lord your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.

As we progress on this fourth day of the fast, the Lord would begin to remind us about the need to maintain holiness not only in our lives but within our homes and territories, atmosphere and environment. As you would imagine it is part of the agenda of the enemy to make sure he infiltrates and soils our lives and homes so as to cause the presence of God to be lifted and no longer abiding with us.

It is important to note that it does not matter how the pollution or soiling comes, if it gains access to our lives it stands as a blockage between us and our God.

*Isaiah 59:2* King James Version

2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

This is why David began his Psalms by admonishing us to keep away from anything that does not line up with God and His presence. Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in it doth he meditate day and night.

David said such a person is Blessed of God, he is as a tree planted by the rivers of waters, he bears his fruits in its season,  his leaves do not wither and everything he does prospers. What a powerful testimony of a person. But this is dependent on keeping sin and impurities far far from us. What about Eliphaz thesis on this same topic in the book of Job.

*Job 22:21-30* King James Version

21 Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. 22 Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart. 23 If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, *thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles*. 24 Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. 25 *Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver*. 26 For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God. 27 *Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee*, and thou shalt pay thy vows. 28 *Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways*. 29 *When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person*. 30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

In the scripture in *Deut 23:14* God tells the people to keep their camps clean and tidy because he says in vs 14

14 For the Lord your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.

He walks through your camp to protect you and deliver your enemies into your hands. Therefore your camps must be holy so he will not see anything there in that will turn him away from you. When our homes are sanctified, pure and holy; when our lives are sanctified pure and holy, our environment, atmosphere territories etc, it invites the presence of God to come and abide and establish His throne in that atmosphere.

That is why God spoke to Cain in Gen 4:6-7.

*Genesis 4:7* New King James Version

7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is [a]for you, but you should rule over it.”

God graciously came to Cain and told him sin lies at your door and is trying to find a way to come in. We must always be on our guard to make sure sin doesn't gain any access into our lives.

In the society we live in now our days, sin is not only knocking at your door, but on your window, your tv, your phone, your neighborhood, friends at your kids schools everywhere! There are all kinds of channels that are finding ways to soil our spirits all around us. And that is exactly what happened with Achan. Its a sad sad story of how this man disobeyed the word of the Lord and ended up being stoned to death with his family.

*Joshua 6:17-18* King James Version

17 And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the Lord: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. 18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

*Joshua 7:1,10-end* King James Version

1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.

10 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? 11 *Israel hath sinned,* and they have also *transgressed my covenant* which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the *accursed thing,* and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. 12 Therefore the children of *Israel could not stand before their enemies,* but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were *accursed*: neither will I be with you any more, except *ye destroy the accursed from among you.* 13 Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you. 14 In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the Lord taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the Lord shall take shall come by households; and the household which the Lord shall take shall come man by man. 15 And it shall be, that *he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire,* he and all that he hath: because *he hath transgressed the covenant* of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel. 16 So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken: 17 And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken: 18 And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. 19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me. 20 And *Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel,* and thus and thus have I done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a *goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.* 22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it. 23 And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the Lord. 24 And Joshua, and all Israel with him, *took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.* 25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the Lord shall trouble thee this day. *And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. 26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day.* So the Lord turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

The scripture tells the whole story and not much else can be said. You see this is one of the strategies of the enemy to bring in spiritually unclean things into our homes and lives so the presence of God might lift from our lives. When Balaam tried to curse the people of God 3 different times he ended up blessing them instead because God clearly said it that there is no iniquity in Jacob nor perverseness in Israel at the time.

Numbers 23:21 King James Version

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

Because there was no sin or iniquity the Lord God was with them. But a few chapters later in Chapter 25 when the Moabites seduced them to sin, then the wrath of God fell on them.

No matter what the enemy is trying to bring into our households, to soil or bring impurities we must fight to make sure that we maintain a pure and sanctified atmosphere as this will one way or the other end up drawing the presence of God to our lives and homes. No matter what the plan of the enemy is God is unveiling them before our eyes so we can walk in wisdom and understanding.

Eccl 7:12 says wisdom is a defence and the excellence of knowledge is that, wisdom gives life to those who have it.

We are not ignorant of the devices of the enemy so no matter what he tries to plant in our lives, homes atmospheres etc it is being unveiled and we will establish victory in the name of Jesus.

Amen
